Pad Printing is a method of printing on rounded or recessed surfaces that would be difficult or impossible to mark via screen printing. Using a specialized machine with a rubber-like pad and a "cliche" that contains the image or text to be printed, ink is transferred from the cliche to the marking surface. Like screen printing, pad printing can be done with a variety of inks, colors, and materials.
Pad printing can be especially economical with higher volumes, and as such many commercial pad printers will have minimum lot sizes in the thousands or tens of thousands. While JBR can and has pad printed in these quantities, we routinely pad print much smaller quantities, including one-offs as well. This is because for many parts pad printing is the only feasible method of marking, and our ability to handle everything from the artwork to the cliche manufacturing to the fixture in-house keeps our prices and lead times competitive.
